Frequently Asked Questions:
1
You may be wondering: why is my doctor so set on me going to Aretas for PT? We have close and personal relationships with many doctors, and part of that relationship is regular communication about your care. We also are often tasked with taking care of patients who have not had the success they hoped for at another PT clinic, and we feel confident that our ability to think creatively, look at your pain/injury as a part of a more complex picture, and get to the root cause will help you reach your goals.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?
3
Wisconsin allows direct access to physical therapy in many cases. If needed, our well-connected PTs and admin staff will help coordinate with your physician.
ARE YOU IN-NETWORK WITH MY INSURANCE?
4
A successful physical therapy experience starts with feeling confident and supported in your financial plan. We are in-network with many insurance providers, including United Healthcare/UMR, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Medicare, and Medicaid. For every patient, we take the time to review your benefits and create a plan that fits your needs and goals—even if we are not currently in-network with your insurance.
DO YOU TREAT MY CONDITION?
5
Our physical therapists, combined, have over 50 years of experience in treating patients of all ages and diagnoses. We have PTs at both of our locations with advanced training or certifications in orthopedics, return to sport, vestibular and neurologic diagnoses, workers’ compensation cases, pelvic floor conditions, and more. WHAT CAN I EXPECT:
Prior to my first appointment?
Once you’re added to our system, you’ll receive electronic intake paperwork that includes a questionnaire about your current condition, along with privacy policies and consent forms. We encourage you to complete these before your visit, but if needed, our staff can assist you in filling them out during the 15–20 minutes prior to your evaluation.
At the same time, our administrative team will verify your physical therapy benefits with your insurance provider, when applicable, so you have a clear understanding of your coverage.
At my first appointment?
When you arrive, we’ll review any remaining paperwork and provide a clear, written summary of your physical therapy benefits. Our team will also walk you through the financial aspects of care with Aretas so you know exactly what to expect.
Your evaluation will last about an hour. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss what’s bothering you, what you’ve tried so far, and your goals for treatment. Your physical therapist will perform a thorough movement assessment and explain their clinical findings, including your diagnosis and recommended plan of care.
You’ll also begin treatment during this first visit—this may include soft tissue work, stretching, and targeted exercises based on your individual needs. Your therapist will guide you on what to work on between visits and help you schedule follow-up appointments. Our goal is for you to leave your evaluation feeling heard, confident in your plan, and already starting to feel better.
When I have billing questions?
If you have billing questions at any point during your care, our team is here to help. Our administrative staff is available to review your benefits, explain charges, and clarify any statements or insurance updates you receive. We want you to feel comfortable asking questions and fully understand the financial side of your care.
If something changes with your insurance or you have concerns about the cost of treatment, we’ll work with you to review your options and find a plan that makes sense for you. Our goal is to keep billing transparent, predictable, and easy to navigate so you can focus on your recovery.
WHAT IS PERFORMANCE?
7
Performance services are a natural next step after completing a course of physical therapy, helping you continue building strength, mobility, and confidence as you return to the activities you enjoy. Rather than stopping once pain is reduced, this phase focuses on optimizing how your body moves and performs so you can stay active and reduce the risk of future injury.
These services can also stand on their own for individuals who are not currently in pain but want to improve overall function, athletic performance, or daily movement. Whether you’re a young athlete, a busy parent, or looking to stay strong and independent as you age, our team designs personalized programs tailored to your goals and ability level.
Our approach bridges the gap between rehab and fitness, providing expert guidance, accountability, and progression so you can keep moving forward safely and effectively.
